Hello and welcome to the 2016-17 school year at Glacier Middle School!
My name is Mrs. Kristina Wheeler (formerly known as Ms. Knutson) and I am excited to be your choir director this year! This year, Mrs. Robin Howard and I will be co-teaching the choirs at Glacier Middle School and I am very lucky to have two fabulous choirs. I can’t wait to get to work with all of you this year and see how much we are able to accomplish together!

Last year was my first year of teaching and I'm excited to dive into my second year. I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in May of 2015 with my Bachelors in K-12 Music Education with a concentration in Secondary Choral Music. I am passionate about teaching students the value of music education and I am honored to be in the White River School District. Study after study has shown that participating in a music class improves students’ overall academic performance. Here are just a few examples of some research that shows how music education affects student performance.

*Enhances higher brain function                                *Develops quick and decisive thinking

*Builds self-confidence                                                *Prepares children for the future

*Teaches the habit of excellence                                 *Provides important experiences

*Builds teamwork skills                                               *Enhances cooperation

If you ever have any questions, concerns, or just want to say "hi", don't hesitate to contact me. My email is kknutson@whiteriver.wednet.edu.

Thank you for supporting your students' musical journey!
